Our reverend Father Alipius of Caesarea appeared to be an imitator of St. Luke the Evangelist [St. Luke <unk> Apostle of the 70s, writer of the third Gospel and the book of Acts of the Apostles, companion and collaborator of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Luke was originally from Antioch of Syria; he was a physician, as the Apostle Paul tells us in his letter to the Colossians (4:14) and a painter, according to the testimony of Philostrogus and Nicéphore Callistus.

These holy martyrs, being men of nobility, passed by Nicomedia [the capital of the eastern part of the ancient Roman Empire, the residence of Emperor Diocletian, a famous city in the Roman province of Bithynia, located in the northwestern part of Asia Minor.] and, visiting the popular theaters, they taught the people who had gathered there, persuading them to leave the worship of idols and to turn to faith in Christ.

Saint Myron was a presbyter in Achaia during the reign of the wicked king Decius, and the egemon of that country was Antipater. The saint was of noble and wealthy stock; he was of a very meek disposition; in his heart he always cherished a warm love for God and men and led a godly life.
